Our Take
Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series has been a staple of the hockey romance genre for over a decade — the kind of books that get passed between friends with a "just trust me" and return dog-eared and loved. The Prime Video adaptation wisely leans into what made the books work: the slow-burn fake-dating setup, the ensemble of hockey players each deserving their own story, and the college setting that makes everything feel both low-stakes and impossibly high-stakes at the same time. The fact that Season 2 was ordered before Season 1 even premiered speaks to Amazon's confidence — and given where the book series goes from here, there is a lot of very good television ahead. Season 1 is streaming now. Start there.
