What We Know
Ali Hazelwood's debut novel has one of the more delightful origin stories in recent publishing — it started as Reylo fanfiction, found a massive audience online, and eventually became a New York Times bestseller that defined the STEM romance subgenre. The film adaptation has been in development since 2022 and wrapped principal photography in Montreal in August 2025. Lili Reinhart leads as Olive Smith, a PhD candidate who panics, kisses a stranger, and accidentally fake-dates her way into something real — with Tom Bateman playing the notoriously gruff Dr. Adam Carlsen opposite her. Director Claire Scanlon brings sharp comedic instincts to the material, and with a 2026 release window on Prime Video, this one is worth getting on your radar now.
