What We Know
Food blogger Hollis Shaw (Jennifer Garner) is reeling from the sudden loss of her husband when she decides to recreate the ultimate escape: a five-star weekend on Nantucket with one friend from each era of her life — plus a fifth guest she barely knows. What starts as a grief-fueled getaway quickly turns into something messier, as old flames, buried resentments, and long-kept secrets surface among the group.
Critics say the series "soothes and consoles the soul with a quintet of wonderful performances."

About the Book
Elin Hilderbrand's The Five-Star Weekend follows Hollis after her husband Matthew is killed in a car accident following an argument, leaving the cracks in her seemingly perfect life increasingly hard to ignore. Hoping to reclaim some sense of herself, Hollis organizes her own "Five-Star Weekend" — a getaway with a friend from each decade of her life. But old flames, resurfacing tension, and one guest's carefully guarded secrets turn the trip into something far less picture-perfect than planned.
Our Take
With so much dropping every week, it's easy to see how The Five-Star Weekend slipped past a lot of radars when it quietly premiered on Peacock two weeks ago. That's a shame, because it's exactly the kind of adaptation Hilderbrand fans have been waiting for — a five-woman ensemble anchored by Jennifer Garner, backed by a genuinely stacked supporting cast, and buoyed by a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score. It's not a twisty thriller or a prestige tearjerker; it's a grief story wrapped in a Nantucket beach read, and that combination is clearly working. If it's not on your watchlist yet, now's the time to fix that.
