Our Take
Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery is one of her more overlooked novels — a country house mystery that escalates into something considerably more thrilling, with a heroine in Bundle Brent who feels genuinely modern for a 1929 protagonist. The Netflix adaptation captures that energy reasonably well, with Mia McKenna-Bruce making Bundle immediately likeable and the three-episode format keeping things tight. It's not the definitive Christie adaptation — the camera work is distracting, the secret society conceit is a little silly, and Chris Chibnall's script takes some liberties — but for a weekend afternoon with a good cup of tea, it delivers exactly what it promises. The book, for what it's worth, is a breezy and entertaining read that Christie fans who've stuck to Poirot or Marple would do well to discover.
